How it works

Powerball draws take place every Thursday at 21:30 AEST/AEDT. To enter, you select seven numbers from a pool of 1 to 35, plus one Powerball number from a separate pool of 1 to 20. The dual-pool structure means the Powerball can match one of your main numbers.

Winning the top prize requires all seven main numbers and the Powerball to match the official draw. Lower divisions pay out for partial matches. The operator manages the game under Victorian law; full details are available at thelott.com/powerball.

Odds and divisions

The odds of winning Division 1 are 1 in 134,490,400. To put that in perspective, you would need to flip a coin and get heads roughly 27 times in a row to face similar odds. The minimum guaranteed top prize is A$3,000,000, though it can roll over if no one wins. We have not listed odds for other divisions because those figures change with rule updates and we prefer not to cite stale data.

If you win

Claims are handled directly by the licensed operator, not by Numberguideau. We do not sell tickets, hold funds, or process payouts. If you buy a ticket online through the operator's platform, smaller prizes are usually credited to your account automatically. Larger wins require identity verification and may involve a phone call or in-person claim. Keep your ticket safe and check the operator's terms for deadlines.

Where to play

Tickets are sold by authorised retailers and online at thelott.com/powerball. We do not sell entries or accept payments. Numberguideau is an editorial site that covers lottery news and results; all transactions happen directly between you and the licensed operator.
